Many of us have long abandoned our New Year resolutions to become fit, eat healthy, spend more time with family and save money for a rainy day. We start out with the best of intentions, but find ourselves confronted with the challenges of balancing work, family and personal needs.
.
As HR professionals, we must resolve to stay committed to continuous learning and personal development, both in our career roles and as individual members of the greater community. How many times have you vowed to take a class, pursue a degree, learn a second language and start attending more workshops and conferences - "just as soon as things slow down"?.
So, If not now, then when?
This month marks the beginning of a series of HR-related educational events co-sponsored by SHRM-GT including the Workplace Excellence Expo and Awards Luncheon (March 24 & 25) and the Employment Law Conference (April 8).
While I know that many of us are overwhelmed with the day-to-day responsibilities of our careers, I encourage you to participate in these events. SHRM-GT offers educational opportunities at significantly lower costs than other conferences in keeping with the SHRM mission to support the growth and development of HR professionals and their communities at large. We also strive to provide HR professionals with opportunities to earn continuining educational credits (HRCI).
Whether you and your company are seeking strategies to promote brand identity, attract and retain top talent, make training “stick’, turn data into action, implement good compensation systems, network effectively or learn the latest employment law updates, the Workplace Excellence Expo and Employment Law Conference has something to offer for everyone.
I hope we’ll see you there.
Best Regards,
Leslie D. Porter
President, SHRM-GT
