Membership Committee Description The 2010 goal of the membership committee is to increase membership by 15% over 2009. We will accomplish this through 1) A proactive recruiting effort to get new members to join 2) Actively encouraging referrals from our existing members 3) Providing an exemplary orientation and facilitating integration into the group at our monthly meetings 4) Keeping in touch with our members to learn what they want and need so that we may satisfy those wants and needs Membership Committee Functions The membership committee fulfills the following functions: · Acting as a liaison to the existing membership through which feedback and new ideas can be brought to the SHRM-GT leadership · Proactive recruiting of new members and/or responding to all membership inquiries in a timely manner · Processing all new member applications and contacting applicants to clarify information as needed · Making recommendations on applicants to approve and on which category of membership are appropriate for each applicant; presenting all new member applicants to the SHRM-GT Board of directors for review and vote · Presenting up-to-date information about the number of members and the breakdown of membership by category both before and after each monthly slate of applicants is reviewed · Personal (non-email) outreach to new member applicants within the first 4 – 6 months to gage satisfactions and to solicit ideas for improvement · Personal (non-email) outreach to all members that have not renewed their membership as of February 1st to both improve retention and to solicit feedback and reasons for non-renewals · Personal (non-email) recruitment outreach to all members of SHRM National to invite them to participate in, and join, SHRM-GT
